This butterfly uses metal wire as its frame and flat metallic thread for the wing surfaces: the wings are worked into an openwork mesh texture with gold thread outlining the edges, giving them a full shape that holds itself upright rather than lying flat and limp like an ordinary embroidered patch. Against a dark background the gold metallic thread stands out strikingly, offering both dimension and lustre.
Optional techniques
The butterfly shape, size and colourway can be adjusted to your artwork; the gold thread can be swapped for silver or coloured metallic thread; wings can be solid-filled or openwork mesh; the finished piece can be made into a brooch, hair accessory or bag charm, or sewn directly onto a gown.
Applications
Suitable for brooches and accessories on evening gowns, wedding dresses and formal hats, as well as accents for bags, hair accessories and gift boxes. The self-supporting 3D form performs particularly well in evening and stage costume.
Customisation process
Custom-made from your artwork or sample. Standard MOQ is 300 pieces; sampling is free for up to 3 simple designs, while 3D or combined techniques incur a sampling fee that can be credited against your order once it reaches MOQ; standard sampling takes 24–48 hours, and complex or combined techniques about 3–4 working days; bulk production lead time is 5–10 working days, with priority scheduling available for urgent orders.
Production capability
Dobest handles combined custom work involving metal-wire shaping and metallic-thread embroidery, with a 3,000 ㎡ facility and more than 30 specialised computerised embroidery machines. 3D pieces are completed through a combination of machine embroidery and hand shaping, and each piece is checked for wing form and wire support before dispatch.
