Backing-Free Embroidery (paper-free backing-free embroidery) does not rely on the heavy paper backing used in traditional appliqué embroidery. In this sample, deep purple dark floral print fabric is precisely cut into a large “G” letter appliqué on soft rose-pink knit sweatshirt fabric and secured directly with lustrous metallic gold thread in a high-density 3D satin-stitch border; below, a letter mark is directly embroidered backing-free with the same-color gold thread. Thanks to precise presser-foot floating control and the backing-free base solution, the knit base fabric remains smooth and relaxed after heavy gold-thread bordering, with virtually no waviness or puckering, and the reverse side has virtually no stiff paper-edge residue, preserving the sweatshirt’s original drape and skin-friendly hand feel.

Available options include backing-free digital-print appliqué embroidery, metallic gold/silver thread backing-free 3D bordering, and tonal flat-embroidery letter combinations. Appliqué fabrics can be flexibly selected from woven printed fabric, velvet, satin, or specialty-textured fabric.
