Toothbrush embroidery + flat embroidery | Space-dyed thread pine tree

A single space-dyed thread carries several colour segments along its length, so the stitching produces a natural gradient without any thread change. In this pine tree design, the branches and needles use space-dyed thread for a natural orange-to-white transition, while the pine needles are worked in toothbrush embroidery, standing the thread up into pile columns for a plush, undulating pile surface. The branches are outlined with fine flat embroidery, so thread and pile sit together in the same frame with clear layering. Pile height can be set from 1.0–10.0 mm as required (2.0–3.5 mm is the most common), giving a soft, resilient hand feel that holds up well to washing.

Optional techniques

The same design can be switched to a solid colour or a specified colourway; pine needle pile height can be adjusted across the whole design or varied in sections (for example 3.5 mm at the crown and 2.0 mm on the branches). Base fabric can be changed to black, beige, navy and other options; a merrowed edge and adhesive backing can be added to create a sew-on / iron-on standalone embroidered patch; it can also be combined with chenille embroidery for a heavier pile surface.

Applications

Decoration and branding on hoodies, jackets, baseball jackets, sweaters, caps, scarves, canvas bags and woven labels, particularly suited to outdoor, vintage and Scandinavian-style products.

Customisation process

Customer supplies artwork (AI / PDF / high-resolution image) → colourway, size and pile height confirmed → 3 simple samples produced free of charge → bulk production after approval. Sampling takes 24–48 hours, or 3–4 working days for complex techniques; MOQ is 300 pcs, and bulk production normally runs 5–10 working days (subject to production scheduling confirmation), with priority scheduling available for urgent orders.

Production capability

Space-dyed thread embroidery places particular demands on colour matching and batch consistency — within a thread lot, materials must be laid out according to the direction of the colour segments so that the gradient position on each tree comes out roughly the same. We sample each design first to lock in the colour segments and pile height before production, and with more than 30 specialised embroidery machines plus piece-by-piece inspection, we keep batch-to-batch colour variation within a narrow range.

Product FAQ · Quality & Craftsmanship
Q1:Will toothbrush embroidery shed or unravel after washing?+
We use single-sided direct stitching combined with high-strength TPU hot-melt bonding on the reverse side, locking every thread root across the whole back. It resists shedding under a standard 40 °C machine wash, turned inside out and placed in a laundry bag.
Q2:What is the standard pile height range? Can it be customized?+
Standard pile height ranges from 1.0mm to 10.0mm (2.0–3.5mm is most common). We support multi-level pile heights within the same design to create distinct 3D visual hierarchy.
Q3:What are the minimum stroke and lettering requirements?+
Single line width should be ≥2.5–3.0mm, and letter height ≥10mm. For intricate details smaller than this threshold, we recommend composite flat embroidery or print for optimal legibility.
Q4:What is the MOQ and sampling lead time?+
MOQ is 300 pcs. Up to 3 simple samples are provided free. Sampling turnaround is 24–48 hours (3–4 days for complex composite). Bulk production takes 5–10 working days.
